LETTERS:No nukes
To the Editor: Though UN weapons inspectors have found no
clear evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the Bush
Administration may attack anyway, claiming that Saddam Hussein is hiding
them. But while President Bush cites the uncertainties of inspections, has
he considered the uncertainties of war? What will be the cost in human
life? Unlike the 1991 war, this war would be fought in Iraq's
densely populated cities. If Saddam Hussein does have weapons of mass
destruction, he will have every incentive to use them, as CIA
Director George Tenet warned Congress. President Bush has threatened to
retaliate to Iraqi chemical or biological weapons use with a nuclear
strike on Iraq. Israel also has 200 nuclear weapons. A nuclear war would
bring the deaths into the millions. It would also create an explosion of
shock and hate that would recruit a new generation of anti-American
terrorists. It seems that the US already has many enemies, and I am
concerned that the "terrorist acts" Mr. Bush is intent on stopping will
be perpetuated by our own acts of terrorism. And by breaking the
post-Hiroshima taboo on nuclear attack, it would encourage other nuclear wars, such as one between India and Pakistan.
The after-effects of our nuclear attack will be so much greater
than Hiroshima-- depleted uranium is extremely deadly and will cause
much death and generations of cancers and other disease.
What would be the future of Iraq and its neighbors? No one
knows whether Iraq would descend into civil war, with Kurds, Sunni and
Shiite Muslims, and numerous tribes fighting along religious and
ethnic lines. Such chaos would make occupation a nightmare for US
forces, not to mention Iraqis. Before taking the risks of war, we must let
the inspections work. Sincerely,

Terry, thank you so much for the kind words about Theatre

seem to find anyone who has an issue.
The text from the website just doesn't do it justice. We'd love to have the real thing.
How can we get a back issue???
DO come again!!!

LETTERS:Gratitude for Toilet Paper
Who is Don Kaul and what are his credentials??? I recently read
his article on the world situation while I was sitting on the toilet.
Which, after reading it is where I believe his article belongs. I was wondering
if Mr. Kaul is going to issue an apology for writing about something
he apparently knows nothing about. He wrote, "The rest of the
western world, however, seems reluctant... blah, blah, blah." Mr. Kaul
apparently knows nothing of the 8 nations that praised the United States
for their leadership and very existence recently and wholeheartedly
supports MR. Bush. Spain, Portugal, Italy, the U.K., Hungary,
Poland, Denmark and the Czech Republic all signed the letter. Is this the rest
of the Western World Mr. Kaul??? Furthermore, Why do we care
what France and Germany think? Didn't we save the French twice from
the Germans? If it wasn't for us...they would be sprechen ze duetch.
Germany we rebuilt after trouncing them in 2 World Wars. Some
thanks. In conclusion, I would like to say that I think Mr. Kaul is an
idiot....if I havent already said so. He is following the Tom Daschles,
Nancy Pelosis and Ted "the killer" Kennedys Democratic party Line.
After Wednesday, when Colin Powel reveals all the evidence you idiots
require, you'll change your tune and jump on the bandwagon so you
don't seem like you don't support the troops. I suggest Mr. Kaul peruse
the World Tribune for updated information before he spews more
swill from his pen. He will find out that Saddam's head bodyguard is giving
all the information we need to the Israeli's, who spirites him out of
Iraq with his family. Will Mr. Kaul say this man is lying or what? I
hope people out there who actually read The Bullshit.... I mean
Bulletin don't believe this moron. Thanks for the toilet paper.

Dear Editor: I have enjoyed reading your restaurant reviews but
you have left out the single best restaurant in all of Montgomery
County: Sitar Cuisine of India on I45 in The Woodlands. Sitar has a
terrific lunch buffet and awesome dinner meals off of their menu as well.
The food is astoundingly well prepared. There is not better service in
any restaurant in the greater Houston area. I highly recommend this
restaurant even for people who do not like spicy Indian food,
because Sitar has many non-spicy items on the menu. Sincerely,

LETTERS:Proud to be an American
Here we go, away into the future, to war with Iraq.
OPERATION FINISH WHAT DADDY STARTED. Do you know where Iraq is?
Or for that matter do you know where Sri Lanka is? Would you know
who Saddam Hussein is if it wasn't for the Bush family. Someone
obviously didn't learn his lesson in Vietnam, oops someone didn't go to
Vietnam. Instead Georgie Porgie felt his services would be better utilized here
at home. So daddy made a call and got him in the guard.... after the
draft started.
Then daddy Bush takes office, baby Bush goes to rehab,
recession kicks in, and here we are. Uncle Bill was a good President, not
necessarily a good husband, but a fine President. I felt safe with Uncle Bill
in office, like the only thing that could go wrong was "Bill I can't
believe you slept with her again!" Anyways, my point is a simple one, one
that could be understood by even George Duh Bush. I have only been a
legal voter for three years, and did not get to vote in my first election
due to some technical problems in the US Army. In the late 80's papa
Bush was running this country into the ground, and making a crunk load
of money in the oil business. He dealt often with Unicol, a
company largely involved in Saudi based oil. You know who runs one of
the largest oil companies in Saudi Arabia? Osama Bin Laden's dear
old daddy. So the Bush family was on the payroll of the Bin Laden
family business...ok; But then, Uncle Bill is in office we successfully stop
over 20 terrorist attacks, and no war is waged. Then baby Bush is
elected and immediately he orders the C.I.A. to "STOP ALL
INVESTIGATION INTO OSAMA BIN LADEN AND THE AL QAEDA
NETWORK" Why you ask? Because Unicol & W. himself wanted to lay
a pipeline from Russia through...you guest it, Afghanistan. And as we
all know, the axis of evil, is based in that very country.
The Taliban; since 9-11-01 we have all heard about the
horrible things the Taliban does, and it's true they are an evil group of men
who are set in their ways. However, did any of you here about the
Taliban prior to September 11th....NO.....and that is because of this
pipeline. George had halted investigations into the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and
of course Bin Laden. He told the axis of evil " work with us, let us lay
our pipeline or we will carpet you with bombs". This was said to
the Taliban approximately 4 months before 9-11. They said no, he
said ok, and four months later everyone knew about the axis of evil. I
don't know how he manages to sleep at night, and still lives with the
fact that him and his goofy ass overweight heart attack havin' partner
in crime, Cheney, are personally responsible for the current state of
woe our fair country is in. I don't know how a man like this ended up
in office, but if you voted for him you better have a damn good
excuse when you reach those pearly white gates of heaven. If it were up to
me we would run our country like a wonderful place on earth where
people are taken care of, health care is affordable, college is free for
anyone who wants to go....wait...that's Canada. George has this
amazingly cunning ability to mask what is really going on, such as with
his negotiations with the Taliban. But more than that I love the way
he runs our economy into the ground, then changes the subject. Got
a problem at home George? Just bomb Saddam. The fraise "waging
the dog" comes to mind. Oh well, you figure they will either get it right
one day, or just get us all killed. I used to think it was cocky to imagine
that I could be President, but now thanks to George I realize that any
idiot can do it. So look for me to be President in 2024. If you look at
the characteristics of the greatest villains of our time George fits right
in. He has a brilliant plan: put American bases in any country that has
a problem with the U.S. Because any country that has a problem
with the US has to be part of the axis of evil. So we should neutralize them.
Install an American friendly government such as in
"mini-America" .Oops I mean Israel. That way when WE put the leaders in office
we have the power, or rather George has the power. Then before
you know it...World War III. And if we make it through this mess
he's started, in fifty years we'll look back on this crucial point is history
and his name will stand alone as the cause. He's playing game of Risk
with the world, all I know is that to millions of Americans, and billions
of others around the world life is no game. So I salute you George W.
Bush and thank you for a memorable 2 years.

LETTERS:TCA Funding Cuts
Governor Perry has requested the Texas Commission
on the Arts to immediately cut their current budget by 7% and next
year¹s budget by 24%. This is unacceptable. We urge you to speak out
and prevent this from happening.
Historically, the arts in Texas have been grossly
underfunded. Texas already ranks at the bottom of all states and territories
per capita in public arts funding. The new funding cuts will cripple
our communities. The cuts will affect you regardless of whether you
get direct TCA funding or not. Many of the visual, literary and
performing arts events you attend as an audience member and the arts
education programs at your children¹s schools are supported through
the TCA.
Look at the bigger picture. How do we ensure all
Texans, especially our young people, have equal access to the wonders of
the arts? The TCA ensures all Texans have this access. They are
integral to educational programs, community based projects, rural and
inner city programming, large and small festivals. They make sure all
the arts are represented, from traditional and contemporary. No
borders, no boundaries. The cuts will mean less funding for fewer programs
and less on-site help from TCA staff. It is important to think about
all your neighbors. Outside the five largest Texas cities, TCA funding
is the lifeline to the arts.
Will you act to save the arts in your community? Now is
the time. Creativity is a crucial human experience and we need our
local Texas Legislators to understand this. Rise up and speak out!
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free
to contact us: 512-467-0704 or arts@jldc.org
THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO DO:
1. Forward this to every one of your audience members,
patrons, supporters, friends, funders, colleagues, press, and artist you know.
2. Contact your local Texas Legislator by email, phone or mail. (If
you do not know that contact information, follow this link:
http://www.vote-smart.org) Rise up and speak out! Educate your local Texas
Legislator about how these cuts will directly affect your community. Give
a concrete example how you or your community is touched by
arts programming.
3. Take action now.

LETTERS:Presidents' philosophy
When I said that the President's push to place a cap
on malpractice lawsuits would indicate to families who lose a loved
one because of malpractice that they would have to accept the fact
that the President has limited the value of that loved one's life to
$250,000, exception was taken to that statement.
It is true that under the aegis of economic damages, a
person who is the victim of malpractice can sue for out of pocket
expenses and for loss of income. To be able to collect for loss of income is
a boon for those who have income. Income is valued and, by
extension, the life of the person who has an income.
But a person who has no income is left out in the
financial cold. Women who chose to be homemakers rather than
moneymakers are left out in the cold, as are children who make no money, as are
the elderly whose moneymaking days are over.
Surely pain and suffering are at issue when one does
not qualify for economic damages pursuant to income. It is surely
reasonable to conclude that jurors, in their wisdom, have chosen pain
and suffering as a way to indicate that those peoples' lives have as
much value as the lives of people who qualify for economic damages
based on income.
The President made it quite clear what he values in a
statement that was published in The New York Times. He said, "There is
no greater American value than owning something." He made it
quite clear, as well, in his latest tax initiative that he intends to leave
no millionaire behind.
If one subscribes to the belief that there is no greater
American value than owning something, it follows that the less one owns
the less that person's life is valued. One cannot say that the
President's push for tort reform is not consistent with his philosophy.

LETTERS:Guns N Roses rules
Mark (Williams), I was at the Philly show and let me
tell you, it was crazy. As I went out to my car that night -pissed and
really disappointed- i knew that you just can't leave GnR. I really was
pissed and said I'd never buy another GnR anything, but as I sit here
typing this I am listening to a recording of the show in NYC. For one
night they didn't suck anymore they rocked. They rocked hard. It's just
sad to see the new GnR and not ever knowing what is going to become
of them,,,,They were one of the greatest band of all time and
now.....? Well, time will tell.
E-bay for the cd- 22 songs for 24.99. the sound is grat
and when it is playing Guns and Roses rules once more !!!!!

LETTERS:Childish leaders
Osama Bin Laden followers have killed innocent people
to destabilize the Middle East and to thwart America's intent for
global markets, or as Bush One stated "a new world order". Bush Two
wants to stabilize the Middle East for Israel's convenience and increase
growth in global markets and is willing to kill innocent Iraqi people to do
it. Both are morally wrong and will not solve Middle Eastern
problems. We teach our children to solve problems without violence and
ensure both sides to conflict have their input. Why can't the leader of
world's most powerful country demonstrate real leadership to the children
of the world and start negotiations. If Bush Two is willing to
negotiate with North Korea, why not with Iraq?? His excuses for war and
violence are embarrassing. Civilization has learned that war will not
create peaceful co-existence.
